Container vanning

We specialize in container vanning and provide expert solutions for vanning and container loading. Depending on the size and weight of the vehicles, we can fit between 4 to 6 standard cars in a 40ft container.

All loading and fastening equipment used complies with international bio-security and safety standards. We use 9mm steel cables with a 6-ton tension breaking strength (TBS) to suspend the upper vehicle, while rubber hoses protect the cables from scratching the alloy wheels or damaging the paint.

To stabilize the vehicles, we secure them with 25mm nylon belts (1.8-ton TBS) to prevent any swaying during transit. For added safety, we install 9×9 wooden beams as a secondary support in case of unexpected movement, subject to bio-security regulations.

Although we strive for the safest loading practices, the unpredictability of the open sea leads us to recommend loading 4 vehicles per container. This provides ample space between the cars, ensuring the best protection against any in-transit damage.
*Disclaimer: While it’s possible to load 5 or even 6 vehicles, doing so greatly increases the risk of in-transit damage and is not advised. We cannot guarantee protection against damage during transit when more than 4 vehicles are loaded into a 40ft container.

FAQ's

Find answers to frequently asked questions about the Insurance, shipping methods and charge.

Marine Insurance & Claims

We take great care and apply our expertise when loading your container. However, given the unpredictable nature of the open sea, we ship all containers with marine insurance.* In the rare event that in-transit damage occurs, you must provide clear photo and video evidence to demonstrate that the damage happened during transit.

Based on our experience, damage is more commonly caused during the devanning (unloading) process. To ensure the highest level of care during unloading, we strongly advise that the consignee be present and follow these steps:

1. Be present before the container doors are opened.
2. If any damage is observed, take clear photos before unloading begins.
3. Record a video of the cars being removed.
4. Capture a photo of the container door showing the container number.
5. Contact your account manager immediately.

What is the benefits of shipping cars by container rather than Ro/Ro?

Depending on the size of the vehicles, we can load up to 6 cars per full container, offering significant savings compared to shipping the same number via Ro/Ro (Roll-on/Roll-off).
Additionally, some ports are located in shallow waters, restricting access for Ro/Ro vessels. For inland destinations, trans-shipment or rail transport is often required, and containerized shipping provides a safer and more efficient solution for delivering vehicles to these areas.

How much does it cost?

When shipping by container, a drayage fee is applied, which covers the cost of transporting the container from the port to the loading yard and back. Drayage costs range from 150,000 JPY  ~ 175,000 JPY , with a loading fee of 20,000 per vehicle.
*Rates are negotiable depending on volume.

Can we mix and match the goods inside the container?

Yes, many of our clients include motorcycles, cars, auto parts, tires, and more. Simply put, as long as it’s legal, we can load just about anything into the container.

What fastening and support materials are used when loading?

All our container fastening materials comply with international biosecurity and ISPM15 standards, including steel, nylon, and ISPM15-certified timber products.
